All About Grapefruit
Grapefruit is a really good party. Grapefruit is Toronto’s really good party. Grapefruit is also one of the longest-running and most popular dance music nights in Canada’s premier metropolis. Click here to see Grapefruit in the press.
Ostensibly a gay night, Grapefruit isn’t only that. Nor does it have a strictly defined sound: like the clubgoers it attracts - hardcore classic dance music fans, a few politicians (!) and even the occasional celebrity - the music we love to play is diverse in its sound but united in its intent. Disco, eighties, classic nineties or new dance,
Grapefruit is home to the music that moves us. We don’t care what year a song was released - we only care that it sounds great, is high energy, and connects with people at an emotional level. Most of all, we care that it moves you. After all, that’s what dance music is for.
Grapefruit is rooted in passion for music.
Since 2002, Grapefruit has sought to provide diversity on the dance floor by delivering the passion of classic pop and dance songs – hopefully, on occasion, introducing them to the celebratory embrace of an audience who have perhaps never heard them before…especially on a sound system this amazing. More than anything, Grapefruit is YOU. For eight years, we’ve been blessed with an astonishing crowd; a crowd who love diversity in music and relish the songs, the voices and the artists who have, over decades, contributed to dance culture in so many amazing ways.
You won’t hear repetitive rhythm tracks at Grapefruit – you’ll hear mainly songs, more than a few of which we bet you love. The resident DJ’s are DJ Shane Percy, who founded the event in 2002, and DJ Aural, who joined up a year later. For this pair of likeminded DJs, Grapefruit has been the joy of a lifetime and we invite you to join us.
